Car Insurance Requirements
While insurance in Tennessee is not required,
it is highly recommended. The following guidelines have
been established as minimums for coverage:
Coverage Minimum - *25/50/10
Coverage Explanation - Car insurance
coverage in Tennessee must provide a minimum of $25,000
for injury liability for one person in an accident, $50,000
for all injuries in an accident, and $10,000 for property
damage in an accident.
*Tennessee operates under the Tort System. While you
are not required under Tennessee auto insurance law to
carry liability insurance in order to register your car
or obtain a driver's license, it is strongly recommended
that you purchase such coverage.
Should you become subject to the Tennessee Financial
Responsibility Statute due to an accident or a violation,
you will be required to show proof of financial responsibility.
