Car Insurance Requirements
Coverage Minimum - 25/50/25
Coverage Explanation - Car insurance
coverage in Georgia must provide a minimum of $25,000
for injury liability for one person in an accident, $50,000
for all injuries in an accident, and $25,000 for property
damage in an accident.

Important Georgia Auto
Insurance Laws!
1. All vehicles registered or operated in GA are required
to be covered by a liability insurance policy issued through
a Georgia agent with an insurance company licensed to
sell in Georgia.
2. Motor vehicle owners in this state are required to
obtain and keep Georgia liability insurance coverage on
their vehicle(s) to legally operate them; to register
and obtain Georgia license plates (tags); and to renew,
replace, or transfer their existing Georgia license plates
(tags).
3. Non-motorized vehicles (Trailers, campers, etc.) and
vehicles exempt from registration in this state (Snowmobiles,
bicycles, mopeds, all-terrain vehicles, golf carts, etc.)
do not require insurance coverage.
4. Under Georgia auto insurance law, insurers must be
licensed with the Regulatory Services Division of the
Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner's office
(ICO) to be able to issue Georgia liability insurance
policies for motor vehicles in this state.
5. Your insurer must issue you, their insured, an insurance
information card for each vehicle they insure.
6. In accordance with Georgia auto insurance law your
insurance information card must be carried in your vehicle
at all times.
Important to Note:
Effective January 1, 2004, acceptable proof of Georgia
liability insurance coverage under Georgia auto insurance
law will be a valid insurance coverage indicator on your
vehicle's tag record on the Department of Motor Vehicle
Safety's tag and title database, GRATIS (Georgia Registration
and Title Information System).
