California
Homeowners Insurance
California Homeowners Insurance offers pretty standard
coverage types. However, there are a few additional coverage
plans that are not mentioned in our general homeowners
insurance information page. They are:
Building Code Upgrade (BCU) coverage
covers the additional expenses that might be encountered
if a structure has to be updated to meet current building
codes. This can only be claimed during the rebuilding
or repair process of a damaged portion of a dwelling.
This coverage is not always included in your insurance
policy. If you have an older policy, this coverage could
save you money in the event your home has to be rebuilt.
Structures other than the dwelling
coverage covers structures that are on the property, but
are not attached to the dwelling. These types of structure
include, but are not limited to: sidewalks, driveways,
permanently installed yard fixtures, and private or decorative
fences.
There is typically a payout limit for this coverage that
is usually cenetered around 10 percent of the value of
the dwelling.
