Consumer Rights under AR State Law
Arkansas Policy Restrictions
All Arkansas health insurance policies must be renewed
by the insurance company if the insured individual requests
it. The only other way an insurance company can cancel
the health insurance policy is if they insured individual
violates a contract agreement.
Arkansas Insurance companies do have the right to include
pre-existing condition exclusions in their insurance policies.
This exclusion makes them not liable for reimbursement
of treatment of these conditions.
There is not list of specific conditions that they must
treat. They have the right to offer permanent and temporary
exclusion. They can also raise premiums to compensate
for these conditions.
Arkansas Insurance Company Restrictions
Arkansas Insurance companies can deny coverage to any
individual or charge higher premiums on the basis of their
current health. They also have the right to raise insurance
premiums based on an individuals age or if their health
has declined. But an insurance company can not cancel
a policy on this basis.
Arkansas natives can sign up for temporary health insurance.
This coverage provides health insurance for a specific
amount of time. This policy can be limited to exclude
pre-existing conditions. It can also be cancelled by the
insurance company at their discretion.
Always check with your
health insurance company on latest policies. These types
of policies rarely ever change (but can), and they are
very similar from state to state. So, we have tried to
highlight the differences, where applicable.
